The front room of the Montgomery House serves as a segue from the front porch to the living room, the dining room, and the upstairs hallway. The piano was purchased by James during Gabriela's childhood, along with a year's worth of piano lessons. His hope was that the tactile skills and coordination she developed while learning to play would carry over into her professional life once she completed her education and began learning a vocation. While Gabriela seldom plays the piano anymore, it remains as a central piece in the front room. |
