In the early years of the Kyme House, continuing through most of Kevin's childhood, Rockport Drive was a quiet street with very little traffic, and one could spend an evening on the porch relaxing with a good book or a warm cup of coffee. However, when the new highway connecting Central and Smalton was built, cutting through the small forest across the street, the peaceful sounds of the forest were replaced by the noise of inbound and outbound traffic. Nevertheless, the porch remained a source of late-night reprieve when the moon was high and traffic was slowed, and Kevin could often be found out here on the small bench, collecting his thoughts or simply listening to the insects chirping across the street. |
