Now, this wasn't the Black Friday you read about in the Finance section of the newspaper, when retailers threw open their doors an hour early the day after Thanksgiving, and consumers literally stepped over one another to do their part for the American economy while getting a jump on their Christmas shopping.  No, for the students of Riley University, "Black Friday" had nothing to do with profit.

"So, what's it like sharing a birthday with a dead chick?"

"Wiley," I retorted, "I'm sure there's plenty of people who were born on my birthday who are dead now."

"Well yeah," he argued, "but you know what I mean."

"It's not that big a deal," I answered.  "Besides, she died what -- like twenty years ago?"

"Twenty-two years ago," he corrected.  "This Friday."
