An employee of The Pizza Express fast food restaurant, Beck trained Kevin Kyme when he began working there his freshman year in high school.  Beck's dynamic personality was both a source of admiration and of encouragement for the young man, and the two quickly became very close friends. Their friendship continued to grow during Kevin's time at the restaurant until Kevin, in the wake a personal tragedy, left Central and was not heard from again for more than two years.
